Inner Journeys
The Magic of Spontaneous Expressions - First Thursday in November at Anka Gallery

Unlike other gallery exhibits, the paintings in this exhibit were never intended to be viewed. Rather, they are visual expressions of inner creative journeys contributed by the students and teacher of Artspace, an experiential painting studio in S.E. Portland. These spontaneous paintings highlight moment-by-moment intuitive journeys of letting go, playing, discovery, and trusting in the unknown. “I am always amazed by what arises from not painting a painting, but simply painting; letting colors flow and textures fill a canvas” says Norman Babbitt a student at artspace. Paintings should be viewed therefore, not as products, but for their aliveness, energy, and vulnerability. Whether recognized or not, the urge to create inhabits us all... It is in our nature... Shedding the inner critic, students find the freedom and permission to explore. Flow comes naturally and creativity comes alive. This exhibit is offered in hopes of stimulating and encouraging your own creative journey. Artspace is a unique painting studio located in S.E. Portland. The studio offers small classes and workshops for those seeking to reclaim creative passion. For more than eight years Kathy Quigley has been teaching and facilitating the creative process. Classes are offered for artists and non-artists alike. No previous art experience is needed.
