Anna Solcaniova King
Born in the Slovak Republic of former Czechoslovakia in 1972, Anna Solcaniova King grew up in the town of Banska Bystrica, a charming, mountain community with a rich history of arts and architecture. After high school, she left her town to study more about art history in Italy.
Having studied the artistic culture of Italy for several years, Anna moved to New York City, to develop her style and learn about the relationship between art and fashion. She was working as a set designer assistant when the attack of 9/11 occured. Following 9/11 Anna decided to move to West Coast, first to Los Angeles and then to Northwest, where she is part of Portland's intelligent urban development . Her travels and experiences show in her artwork creating a strong and diverse style which she says is continually evolving.
Her works are primarily mixed media....acrylics on wood panel. They are abstracts, figures or the combination of the two paired together to tell a story or a statement. Anna continually experiments with different media to create unique and expressive compositions. "Many of my works are studies about colors, surface texture and situations or movement as it relates to a moment. My work changes in a way like seasons do....how or what I feel or what I need to say." AnnaKingArt.com
